A Chicago mom just recently lost the last of her four children, and sadly, all four of them died from gun violence in the city. Gun violence has been a constant problem in the city; Just last year alone, there were more than 500 fatal homicides.
But this has been an ongoing issue for this family for the past 15 years. One of her sons was shot and killed in 1995 at the age of 18, and another (her daughter) was shot and killed in the year 2000 at the age of 15. Three months later that same year, her 23-year old son was shot and killed, and the last one, 33-year-old Ronnie Chambers, was shot and killed just last week while sitting in a van in the city's West Side. So far, no suspects have been arrested in his death.
Ironically, their mother did an interview with the Chicago Tribune in the year 2000, and she was quoted as saying that she was "afraid that [the killing] won’t stop until he’s [Chambers] gone too."
