Internet Raises More Than $150K for Homeless Man Who Returned Woman’s Engagement Ring
Billy Ray Harris, a homeless man in Kansas City, recently received a donation from a woman who also accidentally dropped her diamond wedding ring in his cup. He showed himself to be an honest person by returning the ring to her, and her husband was so moved that he started an online "reward" fund for him for $1,000 at GiveForward.com.
But a friend of the woman told a local Kansas City news station, KCTV5. They ran the story, and it went viral, eventually being picked up by many national and international news outlets. Billy Ray has now received more than $160,000 in donations.
