A local preacher, named Pastor Alois Bell, is underfire after she left a rude note to her waiter after she and friends dined at a local Applebees restaurant. The note, which was written on the receipt, said "I Give God 10%, Why Do You Get 18?" Later on that day, a friend of the waiter (who was also a waiter at the same restaurant) scanned the note and uploaded it to the web, and the whole story has gone viral.
Bell, who is a preacher of Truth in the Word Deliverance Ministries in St. Louis, Missouri, was dining out with a group of friends, and because their group was very big, an automatic gratuity of 18 percent was added to the bill. However, she didn't seem to agree with that and decided to leave the note.
But Bell didn't think about that fact that her remarks could easily get blasted on the Internet and damage her reputation. Even worse, Bell seems to have forgotten that the waiter didn't implement that policy, it was the restaurant and the entire restaurant industry for that matter. Even more, waiters are only paid about $2 per hour, so most of their income is generated from tips.
In a recent interview with KTVI-TV in St. Louis, Bell admitted that people were so stumbled by what she did that they were calling her a hypocrite, and claiming that that is the reason why they don't go to church "because of people like her".
Sadly, the waiter who uploaded the note was eventually fired for, what Applebees calls, "violating the right to privacy of a customer." What do you think? Should she have been fired?
