Jamie Foxx To Play Villain "Electro" in New "Amazing Spiderman 2" Film
Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is slated to play the dangerous villain Electro in the upcoming sequel to Marvel Comics' The Amazing Spider-Man. This marks one of the few times that an African American has been casted to play a hero or villain in a Marvel Comics film.
If you're an avid comic book reader, you already know who Electro is. But if not, here's his background: Electro is the guise of Maxwell Dillon, an emotionally stunted man with an inferiority complex who's struck by lightning while working as a linesman. Instead of being killed, the accident gives him the superhuman ability to control electricity.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to swing into theaters on May 2, 2014.
Jamie Foxx is best-known for his television roles in "In Living Color", "The Jamie Foxx Show", and hit films Ray (about the life of musician Ray Charles) and Django Unchained.
