Why Is Kanye West Wearing a Jacket with the Confederate Flag on it?
During a a recent radio interview with Los Angeles radio station 97.1 AMP, he commented: “You know, the Confederate flag represented slavery in a way - that's my abstract take on what I know about it. So I made the song 'New Slaves.' So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It's my flag. Now what are you going to do?"
According to Wikipedia, the Confederate Flag is a widely recognized symbol of the South. It is also known as the rebel flag, Dixie flag, and Southern cross. It was used in the past by "slave-holding" states, that is states that made it legal to have African-American men, women, and children as slaves.
So should Kanye West be making a fashion statement out of it?
